A security upgrade of Samba is necessary on most of our file servers. The file servers with home, group and astro drives (foostock, schibe, and teutates) will be updated quite soon this week on:
During this time access to the home and group directories via SMB/CIFS will have some short interruptions. This will affect drives on winhome, windata, machome, macdata, unixhome, unixdata, and astro if accessed using SMB/CIFS — which is usually the case on all Windows workstations as well as Mac and Linux workstations not managed by us.
Additionally, the print service may be interrupted for a moment or two, too.
Update 20:45: Upgrade done. Everything's up and running again.
Other servers offering SMB/CIFS shares like the backup servers and the winsoft server will be upgraded during the next days, but since they are rarely used, those upgrades shouldn't interfere with daily work.
